It took a long time for the neighboring tribes to take me seriously- I am hardly more than a year old, after all. A child governing an entire tribe on her own? But I showed them. I crushed rebellions and wrestled away territory until I made an even more formidable empire than I had started with. 
But, of course, there is tangible evidence of your former existence on this earth... your bastard child, my half-sibling, I have come to known as my ally. They are my polar opposite in almost every aspect- they are gentle and anxious and unsure... their weaknesses are my strengths, and vice versa. I am heavily considering appointing them as my heir when they show enough promise... they have potential, that I am sure of, but if they will use it or not is the question.
